Guangzhou, March 18, 2024 (Xinhua) – Professor Shengdong Zhao visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Guangzhou campus. He engaged with Prof. Fan Mingming’s group and delivered a captivating talk on Heads-up Computing.

In a bid to enhance Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) endeavors within the Greater Bay Area, Prof. An Pengcheng and Prof. Li Xueliang recently held a meeting at West Lake in Hui Zhou. The meeting served as a pivotal platform for exchanging ideas, forging partnerships, and charting a course towards elevating HCI endeavors in one of China’s most dynamic economic regions.

Professor Shengdong Zhao and PhD student Luoying visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and had an engaging discussion with Professors Wang Hailiang and Yu Junnan and their students. The exchange was fruitful, fostering intellectual dialogue and strengthening academic ties.

Despite rain, Synteraction Lab members and director Prof. Shengdong Zhao together with Prof. Liu Can embarked on a stunning hike in Hong Kong, enjoying scenic vistas and camaraderie. The group overcomes adverse weather, finding beauty in misty landscapes.

Controlled experiment, an approach that has been adopted from research methods in psychology, is now widely used in HCI. Design an effective controlled experiment is not necessarily easy, even for experienced researchers. Existing controlled experiment designing tools focused more on the process of designing, but they are often not intuitive and guided enough for less experienced users to use. We introduce a 5-step approach to guide users through the experimental design process, and helped them to better understand the experimental design process.
